For today’s show, Biomat and 1/2 of DvaUnlimited will be joining me in the studio, representing Bratislava’s BWO! collective. As they’ll be guesting on the show on a regular basis in the future, I’m particularly looking forward to their Sub.FM-debut. Being strongly influenced by the Bristol-scene, they’ve been pushing the deep side of dubstep for quite some time, combined with some serious grimey turntablizm and lots of support for less known producers in the region. This week somewhere between half-time techno & dubstep – hope some of You are locked and join us in the chat! Based in the rather weird city of Wiesbaden, Germany – and therefore pretty remote from any decent music-scene of the country – S-Max has been very busy in adding to the local micro-scene; in particular by setting up Boogizm Records together with Manutchehr “FYM” Ghassemlou as well as by running the Superbleep-nights together with his mate, Playhouse’s dub-techno-pioneer, Lo Soul. As S-Max specialised in puzzling out half-time detroit-patterns, releases on labels such as Detroit-based 7th City Records and remixes for Ectomorph followed. Recently, he became quite influenced by dubstep, resulting in strangely sluggish versions of bass-heavy techno-steppers.
