» Chicago-raised Ike Release shares more than a passing aural resemblance to the previous output on Infrasonic Dubs, with airy pads delayed for eons supported by a rough and punchy 2-step beat and super high-pitched vocal snippets that scream at the perfect moment. ‘Jenova’ pips the post of Ike’s work on here with its constant Detroit pulses and clean sine wave bass clawing for a little more attention than the rough thunder of his drum work on ‘Misdeeds’. « (Resident Advisor)

Skeleton (Laton/Sex Tags Mania, Vienna)

Vienna based sound artist Skeleton aka Franz Pomassl works with the perception of sound, both conceptual and physically, with his projects that range from infrasonic sound installations, conceptual minimal techno releases and development of electro-acoustic machines and devices. Pomassl is engaged in the deconstruction and expansion of familiar ways of hearing with his installations that often are experienced aural, he explores where the acoustic reception lies, based on infra and ultrasound. This way of deconstruction can also be linked structurally to his work with music, where he continuously releases the same audio material, re-edited, re-recorded and re-structured, changing titles and ways of execution.

Together with Anna Ceeh, Pomassl also runs Laton, a record label for experimental electronic music and sound art. With Laton the focus is also on creating an extended network with former Soviet countries by arranging and presenting events, festivals and record releases. Pomassl own audio productions are featured on labels like Sex Tags Mania, Millie Plateaux, Sähkö Recordings, Raster-Noton, Craft and Sabotage as well as on his own label Laton.

Feelipa (Disko 404/CFSN, Graz/Zagreb)

Through her love for electronic music, feelipa has pushed the sound of underground for years being a longstanding member of Zagreb`s cfsn as well as Graz` very own disko404. Her current DJ sets consist of a good mixture of bass music styles around 140 bpm – from deep to bouncy and beyond – with an eye on the dancefloor she definitely knows how to roll.

On October 8, 2009 an Italian judge acquitted Elias Bierdel and two other Cape Anamur crew members of aiding illegal migration. In a trial of three years, the three men were threatend with four years in prison and a fine of EUR 400.000,- after saving 37 African asylum seekers from drowning in 2004. Most of these refugees were of course quickly deported to Ghana.

The arrest of Bierdel and his crew also served as deterrent to other crews, resulting in many ships ignoring their obligations and longstanding maritime tradition to help people in distress.

In an interview with Berlin-based Deutschlandradio, Bierdel also criticised FRONTEX, European Union agency for external border security which based in Warszawa, Poland. Even parliamentarians don’t have access to information about the agency’s strategies, said Bierdel, which was absolutely not acceptable for a democracy. And he tells about reports of refugees, whose boats had been deliberately rammed by warships. According to a British study, an estimated number of 4.000 refugees drown in the sea every year, 2.000 alone in the Mediterranean.
